About Us

We are a handful of local people who would like to welcome you in our native town, Nasaud. We offer you comfortable home accommodation at hostel prices; we can organize short trips in the region for you and we can also be your guides, as we can speak both English and French.

Attractions

in Nasaud

-the local museum where you can see the Romanian traditional folk costumes; the old people in the region can still be seen wearing them on special occasions such as religious holidays.
-the Thursday traditional fair (weekly).
-a double distillery (the 19th century type) that produces the traditional alcoholic drink called "tuica".
-the former headquarters of the Austrian border regiment from the 17th century, during Maria Teresa`s reign

-an old wooden wheel-mill run by water
-an old small church made entirely of wood

in Bistrita, 25 km away from Nasaud:

-the old Sachsen town
-the Reformed church built in the 16th century
-the historical arcades around the church
-good shopping opportunities

in Sangeorz-Bai, a resort 25 km away from Nasaud:

-natural mineral water springs; their water is successfully used in treating digestive diseases

Nasaud: information and distances

Altitude: 312 metres.
Extreme temperatures: +33 degrees Celsius in summer and -24 degrees Celsius in winter.
Relief: the Somes Valley, hills.

Nasaud-Cluj Napoca: 109 km.

Cluj-Napoca is the biggest town in Transylvania; it has an international airport with direct flights to and from many European cities.

Nasaud-Maramures: about 115 km.
Nasaud-Vatra Dornei (a mountain resort): 115 km.
Nasaud-Bucovina: 115 km (the painted monasteries which are part of the UNESCO patrimony).

How to get here

By plane

Fly to Cluj-Napoca, then take a taxi to the train station ( from the airport up to the train station, the price is the equivalent in “lei” of about 4 euros). Take the train to Nasaud, the train ticket is about 4 euros.
By fast train you get to Nasaud in 2 hours.

By train

At first take the train to Budapest. From Budapest there are two direct trains to Cluj-Napoca daily. Change trains in Cluj-Napoca and go in the direction Ilva-Mica / Suceava / Iasi (5-6 trains daily).
We can pick you up at the train station in Nasaud.

By car

Different routes via Budapest-Oradea or Budapest-Satu Mare (the new highway M3 almost up to Debrecen, then country roads).
